Madeline - thanks for reminding me about this timely advice. I ironic thing is that I was in the middle of sorting through some comments from a client around time and thinking about what a good next step for the conversation would be. I think it is time to revisit 4 quadrant box. There are a few timeless classics out there, and 7 Habits is one of them.

Great post - timely, impactful, and short. :)

The holidays DO provide us with time to over-indulge. I try not to feel guilty about that. I love Jan. 1 of each new year because it always feels like a new beginning - time to set new personal and professional goals and also encourage my clients to do the same. I allow myself to wallow in the beautiful winter solstice that happens in Minnesota and clean my office, throw out old files, read all the new business books I have purchased.

I belong to BNI, a networking group, and I encourage and challenge my colleagues to plan their next 12 months, review their vision statement and objectives. (I also request that they hire me to help them with this).

I love the shift in the conversation that those questions create. I also think it would be worthwhile to distinguish between eliminating & letting go.
I think that quote, btw is this, by Dee Hock, who created the concept of the VISA card, amongst other things:
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get the old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.
